The main vision for Nuuk Snow Fest is to strengthen the local community and be a value-creating festival that protects Greenland's intangible cultural heritage. The latter, among other things, through the festival's themes, activities and entertainment.

The target group is Nuuk citizens of all ages with a special focus on families with children. The festival is free to visit and alcohol-free.

Nuuk Snow Fest brings the whole city together around the snow.

What is Nuuk Snow Fest?

The ambition for Nuuk Snow Fest is to have around 20 participating teams, each with a 3x3x3m snow cube. From Thursday morning to Sunday afternoon, the participants have to create a figurative or abstract sculpture that is freely interpreted based on an annually changing theme set by the festival organizers.

The sculptures are judged based on a rating scale with scores from 0-5 by three judges selected by the festival organizers. Participants can win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, as well as an Audience Award.

Entertainment

During the festival, there will be concerts with various local artists. There will also be a light show in the evening, where the sculptures will be lit up with beautiful colors. The final program will only be available in the week leading up to the festival.

Volunteers

Nuuk Snow Fest is only possible because of the volunteer spirit that makes the festival possible every year. The Snow Sculpture Festival depends on volunteers to ensure that the entire festival runs smoothly. The tasks include setting up and preparing equipment for participants, registering participants, preparing the warm-up room and being the point of contact for both participants and guests if they need help.
